Our Work

Glacier Technologies (GT) is a Southern California, USA, company. GT business centers around the origination and development of technologies and their transfer in the fields of water, life sciences, and renewable energy. GT provides total solutions either in-house or through collaboration with technology partners.

GT identifies the problem, patents the solution if not commercially available, designs and field tests pilots, conducts bankable feasibility studies based on field data, and commercializes the project.

Experience

GT Experience covers 50 years in academia, as a university professor, in government, as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water, to 36 years in business. The experience started by working for the oil and gas giant ARAMCO, then research at the university level by securing and implementing a ten-year cooperation agreement with Texas A&M and the University of California, Irvine Water and Energy Nexus Center (WEX).

Government experience includes eight years as Deputy Minister for Research and Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, board membership in the largest water and wastewater authority in the Middle East, which handles over 3 million cubic meters per day of municipal water and wastewater, the Board of Agriculture Bank, and international commissions including the US-Saudi Economic commission.

Business experience includes the introduction of technology on a large, money-losing government project of 25,000 acres (10,000 hectares), which saved 50% of water. The successful project also involved intensive mechanization to reduce labor, which led to the largest private IPO in 1981. This was followed by the creation of three large companies through the process of identifying the right idea, selecting or inventing the appropriate technology, then conducting a bankable feasibility study to the design and fabrication of pilots that were field tested under the environmental conditions of the client location before commercialization commences.

GT experience includes a commanding knowledge of the funding institutions in the MENA region, such that the bankable feasibility studies are modeled after their requirements for funding.

Education was received at one of the most challenging universities in the Middle East, with a B. Sc. Degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, along with a M.Sc. from the University of Arizona and a PhD from the University of California, Riverside.

GT tackled some of the most challenging environmental contaminants in groundwater in Saudi Arabia by identifying the problems, designing the most technological and economical solutions, building pilot plants and testing them in the field on groundwater wells in Saudi Arabia in association with the Ministry of Water and Electricity.

Our Market

GT is innovation-driven. Our market is worldwide and where solutions are needed requiring technology innovation and/or transfer, primarily in the water and renewable energy sectors and for arid and semi-arid regions.
